The rain drops on the green grass outside my home
The muddy streets with corn peels strewn about
I waited for that familiar beep and sight, that smile, those eyes…

In those mid-night snacks, my heart was in a happy place…
The non-stop giggles and senseless banter, yet
The competitive spirit to beat and conquer
We were the ladders and the ropes, to push up and pull, to remain afloat…

In those rushed evening hours, my heart was in a happy place…
The tired yet unceasing hands and that cool affectionate smile
The anger and hunger and childish fights
One meal together, unbreakable bonds, giving the true meaning of life…

In those tipsy rendezvous’, my heart was in a happy place…
The evenings full of high spirits and thrill
The buddies and mates, all ready for something chilled
Each shared memory, to treasure and keep, to reminisce…
